With the support of the Polk County Community Foundation, the Polk County Toy Run, and other groups, Steps to HOPE’s Adopt-A-Family program pairs generous community members who wish to share their good fortune with families struggling to make ends meet at Christmastime. Donors bring wrapped gifts to help fulfill the Christmas lists of less fortunate families in our area. The Polk County Community Foundation’s “Share the Joy” grant helps to fill any gaps that may arise in fulfilling those needs and wishes.

In 2015, 20 donors adopted 15 families and brought Christmas joy to 45 area children and their parents. Between Toy Run proceeds, generous community donors, and the Polk County Community Foundation grant, many families who could have experienced hardship instead of the joys of Christmas morning, were provided with gifts and boxes of food. Steps to HOPE’s lobby overflowed with beautifully wrapped presents and we can only imagine the joy on Christmas morning as children delighted in opening their gifts as their parents smiled and breathed a sigh of relief.

Thank you, donors!

Many thanks to Family Violence Prevention Services Program, US DHHS, and NC Council for Women for financial support and to our major golf tournament sponsors.
